Day 68 of 365 days of getting it done – fitness

Attack!

That’s my dogs and they’re getting fit on day 68 of 365 days of getting it done!

I just read a post on facebook and it had a picture of an old lady saying don’t be concerned about fitness because there’s more to life. HELL NO!

Think about this for a second. You’re hitting the ages of 40, 50, 60, 70… etc and the body just doesn’t want to play the game as much anymore. Who says?! I’ve just ticked over 40 and feel like I’m 20 again.

It’s cool that some people just don’t get what being fit really does for oneself. Okay, so I like to lift weights and possibly edge on the borderline of “freak” when it comes to a fitness regime… but that’s me.

Staying fit is so much more than about looking good. A model can have a great body but not be fit. When they’re older and suffering from ailments because they never looked after their health when younger, then they may just rue the day they decided not to do something about it all those years ago.

Here’s a bit of food for thought. Strength training, and I’m not talking about lifting small trucks, can help make your bones stronger. Therefore when you hit the later years in life and take a tumble and you’ve been using weights all your life, then you’re more likely to come out the other side much better than the poor duck that didn’t and has broke their hip… again.

Yes, I am definitely an advocate for fitness because it’s all about how I’m going to feel when I’m in my twilight. I still want to be training and having all the energy I can muster when I’m whooping it up on a cruise around the world.

Maybe a little Harlem Shake will get your booty up and moving…
